The KW903-SP connects a new or replacement gyro or other electronic compass to an existing system. It outputs a high power synchro transmission with a ratio of 360:1. Applications include refitting a ship with a new gyro, whilst retaining the existing repeaters and autopilot. Heading input signals may be stepper (including Sperry a/c stepper) or NMEA 0183.  A second NMEA input provides for back up from a magnetic system or second gyro.
